Getting ready for baby and my “maternity leave” plan

We are already 38 and a half weeks along with this little babe! Time has gone so fast this time around. It’s very surreal that technically I could go into labor anytime now.

With the exception of a carpet snafu (measurement gone wrong by the pros) with our basement (ordered it from Lowes a month ago and it’s going to be another two weeks, but was supposed to be installed last week), we are pretty much set around here. We’ve decluttered quite a bit thanks to some help from my mom and a neighbor allowing us to sell some things at her garage sale today and tomorrow. Hooray for awesome neighbors!

The nursery is complete. Baby clothes are washed. Diapers are stocked. Hospital bags are mostly packed including my awesome diaper bag! I have a ton of postpartum care items for myself this time which I didn’t even consider with Bodhi. On that note, I’ll be sharing some of my favorite postpartum items for mamas on Momtastic soon. I just had no idea how it all worked out after baby came home last time around and this time it’s more of a priority than cute baby clothes now that I know what I’ll truly need.

Planning for a “maternity leave” has been really challenging. I’m pretty much a one-woman show but have been lucky to hire a former colleague for some help, Ashley and Tiffany from time to time. I’ve missed a lot of work time with a sick little boy and I’m not as prepared as I was hoping. But luckily, Tiffany will be stopping by throughout the summer and I’ll plan to post personal updates a few times a month as well, but it may be pretty quiet here from June through August as we all get adjusted to being a family of four and enjoy our summer. And my husband has six weeks off with our family this summer. He’s never had more than a week off other than for our honeymoon nearly five years ago, so this will be wonderful for our family.

If you follow Oh Boy Style, you’ll notice it’s on hold right now. I realized after launching it that I didn’t have the time to move it along the way I wanted to and will need to start fresh once things settle down a bit. I have 40 or so looks already curated, but getting them posted is hard work. I know many of you don’t know what all it takes, but it actually takes several hours to write a blog post, format images, get affiliate links ready, proofread and publish.

I will be most active on Instagram as it’s just easy! Keep up with our summer adventures and adventures in parenting two boys there. :)

We are keeping it pretty chill this summer but we’re excited for our weekly Driveway Happy Hour with our neighbors, a cabin weekend with Megan and her family, lots of walks with one of my neighbor bffs who has the summer off and has a baby as well, time with my honey, playing outside constantly, a family wedding and anything else that gets tossed in the mix this summer depending on baby’s personality.

What are your summer plans? Isn’t summer wonderful with children?
